About Us
I first started looking up what was available online, but was unable to find much, especially for larger animals. There was quite a few for deer or hogs but really nothing for elk or moose. My next step was to think of something that might work with some modifications to accommodate large animals. I came up with a few ideas but none that I was really happy with. I thought what I needed was a front-end loader but for the back of my side by side. It didn't take long for me to come up with an idea, but now I had to see if I could make it work. With some trial and error, I built the elk hauler in my garage and had it ready for trial by spring. The only trial I had was the season wasn't open to test it.
In the fall, we (my hunting partners) all met at our seasonal elk camp, and I showed them my concept. Neighbors close by looked it over as well. We were anxious to see if it would work. It took a few days and wish I could say our camp shot the first elk, but we didn't. It was the neighbors, and they came over and asked if I was willing to try my lift on their elk. I was glad to help, and I wanted to know if it would work. We made our way to their elk and successfully retrieved it with very little effort. This was a calf so not a lot of weight.
I was very happy with the build so far, but it needed something heavier and that's when everything came together. We managed to harvest 4 bulls after this and with every harvest the elk hauler was invaluable. Not only were we able to retrieve all the elk, but with very little effort. We could retrieve and be back at camp in no time at all. It was then my hunting partners started telling me I should patent my invention and get it on the market. I realized how well it worked and decided to follow through with seeking out a patent company.
I still wanted to lift a moose but for now I was going to get started. Here we are 3 years later, and a few modifications later with something I'm very proud of. I have lifted 10 elk, and a moose with no issues, and no back pain. I have done a lot of hunting by myself, and this allows me to retrieve large or small game by myself. It not only lets me hunt by myself without worrying about finding someone to help retrieve, but also not having my body hurt for days after the hunt. I hope everyone that tries this whether in a group or by themselves and has as much pain free success as I have. Not only has this saved my joints and muscles but when the weather is warm it has saved meat from being spoiled as the retrieval time is much faster. Good luck and good hunting.
